Amy Palumbo has had quite an experience since becoming Miss New Jersey . Shortly after being crowned , the Miss New Jersey Pageant officials received a package of photos from Amy Palumbo’s Facebook account with an anonymous request for Amy to step down or the pictures would go public. After receiving the package earlier this week, Palumbo and her attorney, Anthony Caruso, appeared on the Today Show then followed up with another appearance this morning on the Today Show. This time to show the photos on her terms and to explain the circumstances surrounding the images.
Although none of the pictures are of a pornographic nature, they are embarrassing. One of the pictures is of her in a limousine with her legs spread in the air but she had jeans on. Another is of her having her breast groped by her boyfriend, and others just making mildly adult references, of a PG-13 nature. Amy said that the pictures were of a private nature and she wanted to keep them private. All models should be advised not to publish photographs on Myspace or Facebook that you do not want the world to see. When you want to keep something private, you do not post it on a public place were anyone can view it, that’s just asking for trouble. The person who sent the pictures remains anonymous at this time. They only had one request which was for Amy to step down, or else they would send the pictures out to the public. Palumbo was quoted as saying, “I can only assume the person who did this is a sad and miserable person.” Even though the pictures have still been viewed to the public, it was done on Amy’s terms. The pictures did jeopardize her ability to remain as Miss New Jersey . A conference was held by NJ Pageant officials to see if she could keep her title and the outcome was yes she would be permitted to remain Miss NJ. In the news conference announcing her achievement, Palumbo said, “It feels as good as when I got the crown”. Overall she was overwhelmed with joy over the announcement. None of the pictures contained illegal activities or pornography, they were just pictures of a young college girl having fun, and I know there is a lot worse out there so why is all of America making such a big deal? |
