Lloyd lost her 'tiara' after reportedly saying in an Eve magazine interview that she was dating one of the beauty contest judges when she won. Advance publicity for a Playboy magazine spread on Lloyd also rocked the pageant. See Her In the December Issue of Playboy.
The UK Sun explains:
'Danielle Lloyd was sacked after being accused of lying about her love for soccer ace Teddy Sheringham. Danielle, 23, claimed she met West Ham idol Teddy the night he judged the contest in February - when he was the only judge who voted for her. But the beauty was stripped of her crown after she appeared to reveal that she bedded 40-year-old Teddy two months earlier. Danielle boasted in a magazine interview how Teddy gave her a pair of shoes for Christmas.
She gushed: "I was over the moon - we were still in bed when I opened them.
"I fell in love with the shoes straight away but was too scared to wear them for three months."'
Robert de Keyser, chairman of Miss Great Britain, said in a letter to Danielle: "Following recent claims in the press and magazines and the publicity given on the Playboy Web site for their next issue, we have sadly decided to strip Danielle Lloyd of her title as 'Miss Great Britain 2006' effective immediately," the contest said in a statement on its Web site Thursday. "We are very sad that this action has been necessary and we wish her the best for the future."
The contest said it would make an announcement later about her replacement.
Lloyd reportedly told the magazine about a pair of shoes her boyfriend, soccer player Teddy Sheringham, gave her for Christmas, and said they were in bed together when she opened the gift.
The couple had previously said their relationship began after the pageant in February.
According to the National Ledger's Linda Johnson, a spokeswoman for Danielle insisted last night that she had not met Teddy before the February contest.
She said: "It was a misunderstanding. Ted bought her the shoes recently and told her she could call them her Christmas gift."'
Danielle is just another statistic in a long line of beauties that have been stripped off their crown following unbecoming behavior. Whether Lloyd's 'crime' warranted the action is another matter.
But she is guilty as charged.
And as Linda clearly points out, either way - Lloyd is out and has received more publicity from the scandal than she ever would have for winning the title.
A look at past incidents include, Helen Morgan, from south Wales, famously became Miss World in 1974 – only for her reign to last just four days, according to Kenya London News. She was reportedly stripped of the title after it was revealed that she was an unmarried mother – which was seen as a scandal in those days.
Vanessa Williams, the first black Miss America, lost her crown in 1984 after allegations that she had starred in a hardcore lesbian porn film.
The Miss France crown was taken off the head of Laetitia Bleger in May 2005 – after she posed naked for a glamour magazine. Soon after, Heitiare Tribondeau – Miss Tahiti 2003 – had her name wiped from the record books after she bared all for a French magazine.
