The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week – Swim Miami 2008 kicked off its 5 day event of fashionable swimwear last Wednesday at the Raleigh Hotel on South Beach. The Swim Show gives attendees a glimpse at the hottest swimsuit styles before they hit the beach or pool. Any apparel suitable for the water can be found at the show. Celebrities in attendance include Jessica Simpson, Tyson Beckford, Dennis Rodman, Scott Storch, Kim Kardashian, John Stamos, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Brandon Davis, and Robert Verdi. Also at the show was up and coming model Jillian Beyor.
Jessica Simpson debuted her new swimsuit line at Swim Miami 2008. MTV’s “the Hills” star Lauren Conrad’s frienemy Heidi Montag walked in the Ashley Paige for Girls Gone Wild show. Dennis Rodman attended the event and in a comical twist Rodman walked the runway at the Jessica Simpson Swimwear Collection. He was also spotted at some after parties dancing it up and getting the crowd pumped. Besides attending the Jessica Simpson Swimwear collection show, he was also at the Red Carter swimwear fashion show. The swimwear industry is a multibillion dollar a year industry worldwide. Brazil made waves with its number one designer Cia Maritima at the swim show. The average price of its line up is about $120- $300, but that is just the tip of the iceberg, some of there new line up had a $1,500 price tag that came with it. Why so much you wonder for a swimsuit? Besides it being a designer swim suit, it also comes with a fashionable necklace that can be worn separate from your elegant water wear. Also in the Brazilian line up was beading, embroidery, lace, and other handmade work. Other swimwear lines included Rosa Cha by Amir Salam, Parke & Ronen’s stylish men’s swim suits, Australian native designer Nicky Zimmerman and her sister Simone brought their “Bondi Girl look” to the event, which also featured retro 1960’s and 70’s look with bold colors like jade and canary yellow, and also a very exotic snake print suit. |
